You've undoubtedly experience, a lovely gold necklace that looked perfect in the box, then after a few months or maybe a year or so the gold's just gone. That piece you loved now faded to silver or whatever other metal was underneath.
Thats what eventually happens to regular gold plating, and thats why we use PVD, Physical Vapor Deposition for our jewelry, so you dont end up disappointed. While both may sound like just the same thing, they're not. One of them, regular gold plating, fades over time and needs you to be careful with your jewelry. The other, PVD Gold doesn't. Why gold plating needs you to baby it
Plated jewelry needs you to take it off. For the shower, the gym, sleeping, swimming, you name it because everyday friction against your skin, clothing, and other jewelry gradually thins the gold layer. The thicker the plating, the longer you get before that happens, but "longer" still usually means a year or two. And the more friction a piece sees, the quicker it fades. Rings and bracelets first, earrings and pendants last.
None of that makes plated jewelry a bad choice by any means. It just means it comes with a job: remembering to take it off, and accepting that eventually, it'll fade anyway. It also means you can't wear it to the gym, the pool, the beach, a (sweaty) night out dancing etc.
Our gold finish is applied differently, using heat and vacuum pressure to bond it directly onto the piece rather than depositing it on top the way plating does. So you can shower in it, sleep in it, wear it to the gym, forget it's even on. It's built to last whether you baby it or not. Which means you can wear your favorite piece to the gym, the pool, the beach, and you can look fabulous anywhere for years to come.
